Science Closes in on theory of everything?

Science will never solve a theory of everything until it can account for how everything in the universe works. It is ignoring one thing, thought, it is something that happens within the universe, a true unified theory must include an explanation for it. The multiverse idea seems to me to be just another excuse to create something new to balance existing equations that don't really work. If you have to invent something to make a thing work, eg dark matter, then it is probably not such a good theory, Occam's razor..
