How to get old clothes brilliant white again?

Hi. I have a white crochet bikini and some white shorts that are stained (and very dirty-looking) by both suncream and iodine (from the water supply of a cruise ship!) I've tried vanish stain remover on them, to no avail, and have also washed them on a boil wash at 90 - again no results. Daz doesn't work lol! I was wondering if anyone had any other tips on how to get them white again. If I bleach them, would this work and if so, how would I do it? I'm giving it one last shot before I go out and buy new white clothes! Thanks, Bec x
