My mother is quite forgetful?

I would consider my 43 year old pretty forgetful. She is also a tad bit irratable and annoying when anyone else forgets anything. She probably has 1 or 2 things a day that she forgets about, that I know of. Could these things be early signs of Alzheimers? (pardon my spelling.)
